Chinese New Settlers Services Trust (CNSST) is registered as a charitable trust which offers culturally and linguistically appropriate services to both Chinese new settlers and the Asian communities, eg. Korean community.
Our Strategic Vision: To develop our Charitable Trust that offers comprehensive services to the wider community in New Zealand, particular to the Chinese & Asian Communities.
Our mission: To improve the quality of life of the Chinese & Asian New Zealanders.
Our vision: To work towards meeting the needs of the Chinese and Asian seniors, children, youth and all other new settlers, and to facilitate the successful integration of Chinese & Asian new settlers into wider New Zealand society.
Our purpose: To enable Chinese & Asian new settlers to participate into and contribute to NZ multicultural society through learning NZ culture and promoting Chinese & Asian cultures.
Our Current Services:
1) Social Work and Counseling Services:
- Case management: primary service delivery, referral and family support, information, free legal advice and Police Asian community office etc.
- Community programes: senior mutual support network, parenting through separation, child witness domestic violence, family violence prevention program and SKIP parenting programmes etc.
2) Employment and Enterprise Services:
?¤ Migrant employment assistance: paid job placement and employment work experience placement;
?¤ Employment coaching to unemployed Asians: series training re the employment practice, cultural and skills;
?¤ Asian entrepreneur network: provide free recruitment services to Asian business and other support;
3) Education and Settlement Support:
?¤ Educational workshop: run community workshops regarding NZ law and legislation for local new migrants;
?¤ Road safety project: driver licensing courses, NZ driving cultural seminars etc.
?¤ Housing programme: information for the first home buyer courses and housing support.
?¤ Community education centres: we run weekend cultural programmes and activities for Chinese children,
youth, elderly and new arrivals at our eight community education centres in Auckland region at Howick, Botany, Manukau, Newlynn, Glenfield, Newmarket, Onehunga and Panmure. The programme including,
?¤ English and NZ culture courses for Chinese elderly and new arrivals;
?¤ Chinese language, art, music classes, outdoor activities for local children and youth;
?¤ Cultural entertainment activities for local people, eg. Tai Chi exercise.
?¤ Cultural and art events or festivals, eg. Asian food carnival etc.
4) Korean Community Services:
?¤ Provide social services, employment services and settlement support to Korean community.
