Chinese New Settlers Services Trust (CNSST) has successfully organised the Chinese Moon Festival Celebration and Youth Speech Competition at Howick on 26 Sep 2009, with 300 participants and honorable guests of Hon Pansy Wong, His worship Len Brown, Mayor of Manukau City; Mr YongChuan Li, Deputy Consul General; and Consul Xiangqing Lou, etc. There were 30+ Chinese & Kiwi competitors in the Speech Competition, speaking on a variety of topics towards cultural and historic stories as well as the influential persons in their lives in New Zealand. A variety of cultural performances were shown on the Awarding Ceremony and Moon Festival Celebration including CNSST Youth Chorus, Senior Chorus, CNSST Chinese Traditional Costume Show, Youth Dancing performances, etc. The sponsors of Pub Charity, MSD SKIP project, Lottery Grants National Bank Asian Banking, WONS and Ironfish Ltd greeted the event and part of which held the promotion booths on the celebration. Positive feedbacks have been received from the participants. Nearly 100 youth competitors and performers enriched their life experience and art and speech skills via the active participation into this art and cultural event. The event effectively enhanced the cultural atmosphere and community cohesion in the local community.
